This weekend I decided to tidy up the polytunnel as one end of it was pretty chaotically full of stuff. Sue came over and did some digging so I had the pleasure of company, but it was mighty cold and I was glad to be working inside the tunnel.
| Sue's been giving the ground another going over getting out all those weeds - mainly buttercups which have sprung underground since Christmas |
| When it's drier and the soil is less heavy she's planning on sieving it in preparation for sowing carrots |
My spinach has appreciated the soaking I'd given it for the past few weeks and rewarded me with a good fistful of fresh new leaves. This inspired Saturday's dinner - spinach, butternut and chickpea curry - delicious. Would be really great to be able to report later in the season that I'd also grown the butternut...

Decided after a conversation with Ed to move my broad beans into the tunnel to harden off, but the forecast is for very cold weather and snow coming up, so really glad the doors of the tunnel have been repaired. |
I've got trays of spindly grass-like leeks and onions coming up on my bedroom windowsill, and soon I'll be adding tomatoes and peppers to the window decor.
| Bit of chaos ocurring... |
| Ta-dah! What a satisfying sight :) |
